Definition of Electric Bike:

The state of Indiana (IN) defines electric bikes as two wheeled device made to transport one person with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750w that has a maximum speed on a paved level surface of 20mph.

Licensing and Registration:

The state of Indiana does not have any licensing or registration requirements for electric bikes.

Helmet Law:

Any person under the age of 18 must wear a helmet.

Where to Ride:

Electric bicycles may ride on any roadway except those that are posted to not allow bicycles. Electric bicycles may be ridden on bike paths and in state parks unless an exception is posted.
